River Academy of Excellence is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. The position is for the 2025 school year, with some work to start in the Summer of 2025. The school is a small, private school, with a current classroom size of 5-6 students. We are located in the Fox Chapel area of Pittsburgh, PA. We are seeking candidates with experience working with students with complex educational needs. Children in grades kindergarten to 8th grade will be accepted into the school. Students in this classroom are verbal speaking and require an adapted curriculum. Our mission is to provide specialized education held to the highest standards, ensuring that each student achieves their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment. River Academy is heavily staffed with full-time Special Education teachers, BCBA, Behavior Therapists and Paraprofessionals to support each student's needs. Responsibilities: provide special education teaching services to students in grades 2-6 Collaborate with para-professionals, therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive educational and therapeutic support to students. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, supported, and engaged in their learning. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification in Special Education from the state of Pennsylvania. Experience working with students with complex educational needs, preferably in a special education setting. Previous experience working in a classroom setting is highly desirable. Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and outside agencies.
