Job Description Job Description Degree in Physical Therapy,
active Physical Therapist license and 1 year of Physical Therapy
experience required. Applicants who do not meet these
qualifications will not be considered. Located in Washington, PA,
this position offers a contract opportunity within a K-12
educational setting serving children and young adults ages 3-22.
The Physical Therapist will primarily support students at a
specialized school for visually impaired children, covering a leave
of absence. Key Responsibilities: - Evaluate and assess student
development, gross motor function, and orthopedic conditions,
emphasizing participation in school activities. - Determine the
need for adaptive equipment and coordinate necessary actions
including communication with parents and staff, equipment
fabrication or adaptation, purchase, maintenance, modification, and
preparation of letters of medical necessity. - Develop and
implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans,
including aquatic therapy. - Provide comprehensive documentation
for evaluations, treatments, educational reports, Individualized
Education Programs (IEPs), progress updates, and re-evaluations. -
Collaborate professionally with the educational team regarding best
practices, student programming, and progress monitoring. - Offer
consultation and training to families, classroom personnel, and
residential staff pertaining to therapeutic activities,
positioning, and student needs. - Supervise physical therapist
assistants, aides, and student therapists in accordance with
Pennsylvania state regulations. - Participate in team meetings,
clinical appointments, staffing, and in-service training sessions.
- Consult with medical professionals concerning physical therapy
prescriptions and recommendations. - Perform additional duties as
assigned. Desired Qualifications: - Valid license to practice
physical therapy in Pennsylvania. - Experience working with
pediatric populations, especially within educational or therapeutic
settings. - Knowledge of adaptive equipment assessment and aquatic
therapy techniques. - Strong collaboration and communication skills
with multidisciplinary teams, families, and staff. - Ability to
supervise support personnel effectively. - Familiarity with
educational documentation requirements including IEPs. This
