44504Principal Responsibilities:Summary:The Youngstown Jewish
Community Center (JCC) is a welcoming and vibrant presence in
eastern Ohio/western Pennsylvania. The mission of JCC is to create
and maintain a standard of excellence in the areas of social,
cultural, educational, and recreational programs for its members of
all ages in a Jewish environment. In providing these services, the
JCC continually strives to develop and strengthen Jewish identity,
foster Jewish values and enrich the quality of life for its members
as well as the greater community. The JCC offers programs for all
ages, including an early learning center that serves children 6
weeks to 12 years all under one roof, adult, teen and school-age
children's programs, cultural arts, social events, opportunities
for volunteers and senior outreach, and fitness and aquatics
services. The JCC seeks an executive director who possesses
excellent strategic and management skills with a proven track
record in building staff and community. The executive director will
be part of an integrated community leadership team under the
umbrella of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation. The position is
currently open and available for the right candidate to begin by

Competencies:Demonstrates Skill in Operational ManagementThe
Executive Director provides leadership to all aspects of the JCC
operations and is responsible for the day-to-day management and
security of the JCC. This includes an understanding of the physical
plant, technical support systems and running the various businesses
of the JCC. Visibility and responsiveness to members is a strong
value. The Executive Director will be decisive in action, adaptable
and accountable.Displays Sound Staff Management SkillsThe Executive
Director will create a culture of positivity, productivity and
collaboration in the work environment, inspiring, engaging and
empowering the professional staff of the JCC. Through selecting,
developing and motivating staff, the Executive Director will foster
innovation, teamwork and partnership to ensure that best practices
and cutting-edge programs are the norm.Presents Visionary and
Strategic LeadershipThe Executive Director will promote an
all-encompassing and compelling vision that captures the energy of
the JCC and a robust, engaged and involved community going forward.
The Executive Director will actively engage with other Jewish and
general community organizations, working to support existing
collaborative programs and to envision new ways to work together.
The Executive Director must see the big picture - managing current
issues while thinking long term.Provides Exemplary Executive
LeadershipThe Executive Director will be a warm and engaging leader
who is accessible and listens to all viewpoints, demonstrates
confidence and a positive approach. The Executive Director must be
an accomplished relationship builder, comfortable with all levels
of constituencies from the most seasoned lay leaders to new young
leadership, professional staff, general members and those not yet
engaged. A forward thinking, energetic individual, the Executive
Director will promote a culture of innovation and be a change agent
to create on-going excitement for the JCC in the
community.Represents the Organization in the CommunityThe Executive
Director will build coalitions and collaborations within the Jewish
and general community. Through relationships with funding bodies
and interpreting the mission of the JCC in the broader community,
the Executive Director will build bridges that enhance the overall
work of the JCC in the community.Exhibits Financial AcumenThe
Executive Director will oversee all financial matters of the JCC,
including annual and long-term budgeting, ongoing financial
performance and financial strategy. The Executive Director will
work to ensure that revenues and expenses are consistent with the
approved budget.Minimum Qualifications:Qualifications:The ideal
candidate will have:* Minimum of a bachelor's degree with 6+ years
of strategic leadership and management experience in JCCs, Jewish
communal organizations, business, and/or non-profit sectors. An
advanced degree is preferred.* Proven ability to build strong and
lasting partnerships with Jewish, corporate, government and other
organizations, and engage key stakeholders and audiences.*
Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach
and manage staff, develop high-performance teams and set and
achieve strategic objectives.* Strong analytical skills and ability
to understand financial data to make key decisions.* Ability to
develop and drive both short-and long-term strategy for the
organization.* Dynamic Leader to serve as the public face of the
organization.* Appreciation and real commitment to diversity; works
easily with a broad range of people across all aspects of
diversity.* Past success working with a Board of Directors,
committees and volunteers with the ability to cultivate existing
relationships and develop new ones.* Knowledge and understanding of

JCCSince 1953, the JCC has been the serving the cultural and
recreational needs of the Jewish community. The JCC currently has
an annual operating budget of $3 million. The 63,000 square foot
Main Campus facility houses a state-of-the-art fitness center, a
25-yard indoor heated pool, gymnasium, deluxe health club with
sauna, steam, and whirlpool, outdoor pickleball courts, a large
pavilion, and much more. An outdoor ice-skating rink will be
opening this winter. A wide range of group exercise classes and
cultural arts programs engages a broad and diverse group of
members. The Early Learning Center, summer camp, dance studio,
School of Visual Arts and School of Music are also housed there.
The Logan Campus, about three miles away, has a beautiful outdoor
pool, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, a pavilion, and event
tent. The JCC has about 1200 units of membership. The JCC is seen
as a leader in the Youngstown community, developing many strategic
partnerships and producing innovative programming in many areas.The
JCC sits on an 18-acre campus that includes Heritage Manor nursing
home, Levy Gardens Assisted Living, Jewish Family Service, the
Youngstown Area Jewish Foundation, the Youngtown Area Jewish
Federation, the Jewish Community Relations Council and a Jewish
adult group home. These organizations and their staff work
cooperatively and collaboratively under the Jewish Federation
umbrella. The community has invested over $1 million over the last
four years to continually upgrade the JCC facility.About the
Youngstown Jewish CommunityThe Youngstown area has a population of
approximately 70,000 people, with 250,000 people residing in the
surrounding five counties. The Jewish population is approximately
1300. It is home to four synagogues, including one Reform, two
Conservative and one Orthodox synagogue. Akiva Academy, a K-8th
grade Jewish Day School, serves over 150 children, approximately
15% of whom are Jewish. It is a close-knit Jewish community where
there is something for every age and every interest, and is
considered to be warm, welcoming and inclusive for newcomers.About
the City of YoungstownCompared to other metro areas of similar
size, the cost of living in Youngstown is much lower. Home costs,
utilities, food expenses and medical costs all fall well below the
national average, with the quality of life rated highly. Housing
costs are less than half the national average. Located halfway
between Pittsburgh and Cleveland, Youngstown is still reflective of
the steel industry's history. But this Rust Belt city is in the
midst of a cultural and economic renaissance that combines rich
historical tradition with the zeal of a new generation. The median
age in Youngstown is 44.The area is seeing a resurgence of business
in its downtown area, including restaurants, bars, galleries and
local shops. The strong work ethic the region is known for is
helping to make the revival happen. Home to many museums, theaters,
outdoor fairs and festivals, Youngstown is transforming itself from
