Thank you for considering a career at Mercy HealthSUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides leadership, management, and support in assigned area(s) to ensure achievement of Mercy Health's strategic and operational plans by effectively managing human, financial and capital resources within the spirit of its mission and values. Assumes responsibility for coordinating all available resources to assure a high degree of safe, appropriate care and treatment for all patients on their unit. Works collaboratively to plan, implement and evaluate health care standards within the unit. Works collaboratively with the Director to facilitate problem resolution.QUALIFICATIONS:Licensed by State of Ohio as a Registered Nurse (R.N.)EDUCATION:BSN required.Magnet recognized certification required or must obtain within 1 year.Certification in specialty area of expertise preferred.Certified in ACLS - specialty units.EXPERIENCE:Five years of experience as a professional nurse within a hospital setting.Experience as a nurse manager preferred.Computer literacy.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Has knowledge of a management in psychiatric nursing, or a broad working knowledge of psychiatric nursing.Ability to analyze and interpret complicated information.Ability to determine a course of action based on general guidelines.Ability to modify existing forms, procedures, or methods.Ability to use highly sophisticated equipment requiring extensive training.PROBLEM SOLVING/DECISION MAKINGMakes decisions based on policy and/or consultation with CNS/Program Director.Requires judgment in selection of alternative courses of action.May adapt standard management principles to new or changed conditions.Solutions generally based on past precedent with some risk-taking involved in developing new managerial approach.SCOPE OF IMPACT/ACCOUNTABILITY:Impacts operation of work area.Accountable for developing a strategic plan for area of influence and achieving end results.May contribute to Mercy Health decision making process an information resource.INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION:Frequently advises others on difficult and sensitive issues.Requires staff management and delegation skills.Exercises significant interpretation to identify recommended courses of action.Requires consistent tact, some persuasion, and listening skills to achieve results.PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:Provides leadership and strategic oversight in assigned areas to ensure the achievement of the Mercy Health mission and living of its values.Inspires, motivates and models supportive behaviors.Fosters the spirit of servant-leadership by promoting empowerment, collaboration, Performance Improvement processes, inter-disciplinary work teams, and partnership relationships with customers.Demonstrates self-governance and promotes the same in others.Creates an environment in which fosters professional/personal growth and development. Appraises and evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and periodically reports these results to their respective Director/Vice President.Prepares and presents or assists in preparation and presentation of financial overview as requested by Senior Leadership Team. Plans and implements service changes to increase revenue (where appropriate).Develops effective business plans for areas of responsibility.Selects, trains/orients and assigns staff.
