Job Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION The Director of Human Resources provides development, oversight, support, and advisement in the area of human resources for the diocesan Central Services offices. The areas of responsibility include development of sound policies and procedures relative to applicable employment law, recruitment, selection, compensation, training, dispute resolution, terminations, and investigations into sensitive diocesan matters. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assess the budgetary impact of compensation decisions and provide oversight of compliance with regulations and labor laws, in addition to maintaining personnel records.Perform wage and salary surveys for analysis for the diocesan Central Services offices.Provide training and technical assistance to department supervisors for all human resource activities, including hiring, performance management, conflict resolution, and employment law matters. Consult with Chief Financial Officer to determine General Counsel involvement when necessary.Develop, maintain, and monitor the annual Central Services performance management evaluation process.Prepare and approve all new and existing job descriptions and changes thereto, approve all classifications of all positions any changes thereto (exempt/non-exempt), and approve all title designations, pay grades, and any changes thereto.Update the Central Services Lay Employee Handbook, and write and publish any new required personnel policies.Maintain and remain current with all applicable employment laws, regulations, legislation, new developments, and other laws related to human resources.Complete or assist with special projects and duties as determined by the Chief Financial Officer. QUALIFICATIONS Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church who has the ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic faith.Exercise considerable judgment with a high level of confidentiality, working with sensitive and privileged information.Require a high level of computer expertise in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including producing clear, concise reports and recommendations.Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor degree in business, with a Human Resources concentration preferred.Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred.3. Minimum of ten years managing and leading a professional human resource department.
