Registered Nurse (RN) | Correctional Location: Youngstown, OH Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,912 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 6 Weeks Start Date: 1/26/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Correctional RN in Youngstown, Ohio, 44505! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 6 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Must possess current licensure in the state of employment Certifications: Valid driver's license required Must-Have: US Citizenship and social security card required Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing Licensed Independent Provider orders and assisting in examinations. The RN applies nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents. They perform all technical and clinical procedures within the scope of their education and licensure. The RN attends sick calls with the physician to see inmates/residents. They prepare a list of inmates/residents for examination and prepare the examining room and equipment. The RN operates pill call, dispenses medication, and documents as required by applicable policies. They call the Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders as needed. The RN examines and assesses new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries. They refer inmates/residents to emergency care facilities as required by their condition. The RN performs emergency procedures when needed and notifies the Licensed Independent Provider. They assist in coordinating professional medical services provided by contract personnel. The RN monitors inmate/resident hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate. They provide guidance and supervise nursing care provided by licensed and non-licensed staff. The RN maintains good working relationships with facility staff and contract providers. They utilize established policies and procedures in decision-making while exercising sound judgment. The RN regularly evaluates the provision of medical services to prevent unnecessary use or duplication. They maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records. The RN assists in reviewing medical files to ensure documented services. They monitor potential catastrophic illnesses closely. The RN audits pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as required. They comply with all applicable pharmacy laws regarding controlled substances. The RN observes and records inmate/resident behavior accurately. They inspect the medical unit for contraband items and securely store or dispose of supplies. The RN provides health counseling and education on an individual or group basis as required. They assist in preparing and maintaining various records and reports using appropriate grammar. The RN reads, analyzes, comprehends, and interprets medical procedures and legal documents. They review and respond to lawsuits and may attend court hearings as necessary. The RN evaluates and recommends physical safety requirements for a safe working environment. They facilitate accreditation of the medical program by providing approved medical services. The RN prepares safety and accident reports as required by policies. They take appropriate action in cases of serious incidents and emergencies. The RN escorts or coordinates the movement of inmates/residents for medical treatment. They perform searches to detect contraband. The RN engages in functions in confined areas, checking the security of doors and windows. They take appropriate action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations.
