Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: The Crisis - Intensive Home-Based Therapy (IHBT)
Intern provides IHBT services and treatment to clients between the
ages of 5-18 and their families. The Crisis IHBT Intern is expected
to carry a caseload, meet the program’s benchmarks for clinical
excellence, and achieve productivity target for billable services.
The Crisis IHBT Intern works as a member of the IHBT team and is
directed by the Crisis IHBT Supervisor/ Field Instructor. Services
take place in the home and community. Work hours are flexible and
must be kept below 20 per week. Some evenings or weekends may
apply. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Accept an assignment of cases to provide
Intensive Home-Based Treatment for clients, their families, and
with significant others as needed, including community
organizations, schools, other health and social service
professionals, the justice system, and other agencies involved with
the client. Carry a required caseload as identified per model or
Supervisor discretion, providing services anywhere from three to
six months. Provide the following services, including, but not
limited to: A. Evaluations and assessments; B. Development of
client’s individual treatment plan (ITP); C. Crisis work –
providing assistance and support for families in crisis situations,
provide 24/7 crisis coverage to clients on a rotating schedule; D.
Safety planning and Risk Assessment; E. Become a certified CANS
assessor and complete these with youth/families; F. Working with
youth and families in the community; G. Working with local Care
Management Entities as part of the OhioRise Program; H.
Coordination with identified providers of services identified on
the client’s ITP; I. Advocacy opportunities; J. Assist with data
capture and data analytics if in line with learning needs; K. Learn
about public policy that contributes to programming to support
youth and families in crisis IHBT if in line with learning needs;
and L. Other services that contribute to the well-being of the
youth. Formulate goal-oriented treatment plans in accordance to
client need, inclusive of step-oriented processes for preventing
crises and stabilizing the family unit. Contribute to the
development and maintenance of the clinical record through the
timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with
applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
Responsible for timely termination/evaluation letters. Provide
advocacy and coordination with schools, the justice system, social
services, health services, and like agencies as needed. Provide
culturally competent clinical services, including but not
necessarily limited to: evaluations, assessments, safety plans,
treatment plans and updates, individual and family counseling,
skill building for youth and caregivers, linkages when appropriate,
and termination/transition summary reports. Adhere to Agency/ACS/
NASW codes of conduct and ethics. Adhere to Learning Contract as
designed by Student and Field Instructor. Attend scheduled staff
meetings, supervision, and on-going training. All required
trainings, certifications, and licensure must be kept current in
accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations
and standards. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in
confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment.
All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with
Agency guidelines on confidential material. Maintain high standards
of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies
and procedures. Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Must be a
current second year Master’s student in Social Work, Counseling, or
Marriage and Family Therapy. Licensure: Valid Ohio Trainee license
(Social Work Trainee, Counselor Trainee, Marriage and Family
Therapy Trainee), or higher, required. Skills/Competencies: Strong
clinical skills including training and/or classroom experience in
systemic family therapy, crisis intervention, family education,
behavioral interventions, and substance abuse therapy Core
Expertise: Possess skill, knowledge and abilities to perform the
essential duties of their role; keeps knowledge up to date.
Independent Judgment: Demonstrate ability to perform job
responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent
judgment. Cultural Competency: Demonstrate awareness, sensitivity
and skills in working professionally with diverse individuals,
groups and communities who represent various cultural and personal
background and characteristics. Interpersonal Communication:
Communicate clearly using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in
a professional context; demonstrates clear understanding and use of
professional language. Professional & Ethical Conduct: Adhere to
professional values such as honesty, personal responsibility, and
accountability; Applies ethical concepts within scope of work and
adheres to Agency policies and procedures. Collaboration and
Teamwork: Function effectively as a member of a professional team
that includes employees, clients and family members. Problem
Solving & Decision Making: Recognize problems and responds
appropriately; gathers information and sorts through it to identify
and address root cause issues; makes timely decisions. Service
Orientation: Anticipate, recognize, and meet the needs of others,
whether they are clients or not. Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate
competence in utilizing Agency computer systems and software,
including Experience: At least two semesters of clinical fieldwork
and/ or substantive professional clinical experience required.
Other: Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and driving
record that meets the underwriting criteria of the Agency’s
