(1:5-7) Description: The Medical Surgical unit is a dynamic 34-bed
unit dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with a
wide range of acute medical conditions. Our team comprises
experienced and developing nurses. Collaboration is vital to
delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a challenging yet
rewarding environment. The team includes registered nurses,
licensed practical nurses, clinical assistants, unit clerks, and
patient care technicians. These professionals work together to
provide exceptional care in alignment with standards of excellence.
An acuity tool is utilized to optimize patient assignments and
ensure appropriate staffing levels. Clinical nurse coordinators
provide leadership on every shift. Daily huddles are facilitated to
manage patient flow and rounding on patients is a regular practice.
The nurse manager maintains a strong presence on the unit.
Engagement with staff and patients occurs daily. Additional
interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy,
respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy,
radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. The
unit aims to maintain high standards of patient care and effective
