Job Description:
GLI/Latham is a design-build manufacturer of swimming pool
liners and safety covers. In this role the Technical Services
Manager will not only oversee the Design and Estimating Department,
but will also have the opportunity to see, touch, and feel the
product the team is designing as well as interact with other
designers and various production teams during the process.
The ideal TS Manager candidate will be a degreed Mechanical
Engineer from an accredited university with at least 3 - 4 years of
experience managing a technical design group. Experience in product
development and working with manufacturing systems is a plus.
Primary Role - Technical Service Manager
Lead the Design and Estimating groups at GLI/Latham Pool Products
in Youngstown, Ohio. The focus of the role is in the planning,
managing and coordinating all phases of the Design and Estimating
departments to meet the production, quality and delivery schedule
in a fast-paced highly demanding environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for team building and staff development to including
hiring, training, performance reviews, salary administration, work
assignments and metrics in order to deliver consistent, quality
results.
Provide technical support to the manufacturing, sales departments
and customers. Some travel will be required.
Establish a strong leadership presence, interacting with department
employees, customers, suppliers and all levels of leadership.
Ensure that the internal and external customer needs are understood
properly, and the products are designed in a timely manner while
meeting or exceeding all quality standards.
Communicate frequently and openly to motivate team members to
achieve department goals; maintain clear channel of communication
across the organization and with customers.
Collaborate on projects with other departments such as Production,
Sales, Customer Service, IT, and HR, to improve cross functional
deployment of D&E.
Be a change-agent and team player who can work closely with the
team to introduce contemporary design practices to the facility and
help create high performance work teams.
Configurator development experience (managing and developing
internal programming resource)
Responsible for Capital expenditures projects (CapEx), lead
business studies and project implementation; the goal is to improve
department performance efficiency.
Closely work with the Sales team to provide technical resources to
the customer base.
Oversee and monitor all key metrics to include counter measure
implementation to eliminate errors.
Recommend budgets to management to include staff utilization,
technology and equipment requirements and improvements.
Responsible for maintaining and embracing the company's vision,
values and objectives.
Communication lead with offshore design group
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field. Equivalent
related experience may be substituted for degree.
3-4 years' experience managing design team
Proficient in Solid-works, DraftSight, ACAD, 3Dmodeling, MS Office
Suite, MRP System (NetSuite)
Strong planning and analytical skills
Outstanding teamwork, project management, and budget management
Strong communication skills
Proven ability to solve complex problems and lead teams to solve
complex problems
Thrives in a fast-paced environment where high energy and
resiliency are required
Multi-Department management experiences (30 to 40 employees)
Results oriented and data driven
