As a custodian, you'll support our team by maintaining the buildings to ensure clean, organized operations. You will also s weep, mop, scrub , vacuum , e mpty the trash , clea r snow, and maintain the landscaping . Y o u can e xpect to work in extreme temperatures (-25F to 100F) in the distribution center. T here’s no experience required - we'll train you how to get the job done ! Does this look like you? You must be 18 years of age or older. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed - holidays are very important to our customers! We have frozen products - your ability to work in extreme cold or hot conditions (-25F to 100F) is required while you’re here. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English (to read labels, pick lists, scanners, signage, company website information related to benefits, updates, complete paperwork, and follow verbal instructions). Successfully pass a drug test that will assess drug usage and a background check. Gordon Food Service encourages veterans and active military members to apply Position Summary: Maintains buildings in clean and orderly condition. Essential Functions: Maintains the facility and associated paperwork to meet AIB and other food safety standards. Sweeps, mops, scrubs and vacuums; may include hallways, stairs and office space within the distribution center. Empties trash and garbage containers and cleans snow and debris from walkways. Performs inspections of equipment and reports findings. Mows lawn, trims shrubbery and cultivates flower. May remove, charge, transport, and install hi-lo (forklift) batteries in the warehouse. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations. Ability to read, write and communicate in English Ability to read and understand information on a Material Safety Data Sheet, and adhere to safety regulations and procedures Ability to work independently and within team environment Must be able to operate powered industrial vehicle (PIV), vacuum cleaner, lawn mower, gardening tools and other various types of equipment. Must have basic computer skills utilizing windows based software. Equipment / Tools / Technology : Powered industrial vehicle (PIV), lawn mower, golf cart Vacuum cleaner, gardening tools and other various types of equipment Computer, hardware, software Handheld radio Educational & Experience Requirements High School / Equivalent Preferred Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) certification required after hire No previous experience required.
