About the Organization Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries employs and provides vocational rehabilitation services to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Also provided are Radio Reading services and various other social services. Through its services Goodwill helps people overcome barriers to employment and become independent, tax-paying members of the community. Goodwill operates eight retail stores and donation centers. All proceeds remain with Goodwill and stay in the community. Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries operates in a five county area of Mahoning, Columbiana, and Trumbull counties within Ohio and Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania.

Position Loss Prevention Coordinator



Loss Prevention Coordinator is responsible is to prevent, detect, investigate, resolve and document internal and external losses and policy violations, and provide exceptional customer service in the process at all Company locations.


1. Loss Prevention is responsible for the following functions:

  • Provides professional protection of company assets, employees and guests while ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Conducts and documents internal and external investigations and interviews in a professional, timely, discreet and confidential manner.
  • Uses effective and professional written communication skills to prepare accurate and timely investigative reports, email communications, memoranda, and other required forms, spreadsheets and reports.
  • Partners and communicates effectively with all lines of business.
  • Actively monitors and follows up on suspicious cash variances, cash handling violations, and point of sale exception based reporting data.
  • Conducts and promotes proactive Loss Prevention efforts such as awareness programs, training, detailed store audits, and 'Focus Store' monitoring as required.
  • Operates and monitors video surveillance systems to audit, investigate and review theft and other questionable incidents; downloads and saves video evidence.
  • Effectively deals with difficult or angry individuals in a professional manner, using minimal force only when necessary to protect self or others from serious physical harm.
  • Accurately and promptly notifies management of serious or unusual incidents or circumstances.
  • Maintains professional liaison with law enforcement and other governmental agencies, and represents Goodwill as a witness in court and administrative hearings.
  • Provides assistance and back-up to Security operations as needed.
  • Maintains professional grooming and appearance.
  • 2. Sets a professional example for peers.

    3. Researches and implements methods of measuring and minimizing inventory shrinkage, cash and

    other losses to the Company.

    4. Analyzes Loss Prevention needs to develop and implement new Loss Prevention or modify and

    improve existing programs.

    5. Meets with Department heads to discuss Loss Prevention, investigations, problems/solutions and procedures.

    6. Develops and writes Loss Prevention-related policies and guidelines.

    7. Possesses knowledge of surveillance camera equipment needs assessments, purchasing, installation, troubleshooting, video review and downloads.

    8. Coordinates and partners with others inside and outside the Company to determine, share and adopt best practices.

    9. Track completion of corrective actions

    Position Requirements

    5 years of Loss Prevention and investigation experience.

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

    Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred.

    Wicklander-Zulawski training preferred.
