Job Description The Plant Manager (PM) is responsible for oversight of plant activities in order to meet business objectives by driving the corporate mission and vision into daily operations. The PM is accountable for all aspects of plant performance while ensuring that near and longer term key performance indicators (KPIs) and business objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner that is consistent with health & safety, quality and environmental requirements. The PM delegates authority to key supervisors in production and manages all activities related to plant operations. In facilities where the PM is the lead manager on site the PM is responsible and accountable for all aspects of the facilities operations to ensure that business is conducted in a safe and responsible manner consistent with the companys policies and procedures. Focus Areas: Functional Control Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Lean Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement Talent Management Design/Estimating Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Direct responsibility to plan, organize, direct, and run optimum daily operations 2. Provide overall leadership to the entire operations team. Overall responsible for multiple shifts, multiple products, multiple levels of management. Educate, inspires, and instills core values within the daily operation across all interactions 3. Oversee Lean Manufacturing within group and drive results based on data and voice of the customer. Develop strategies and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to consistently ship product within 72 hours. Hold groups accountable for following standard processes and maintaining quality standards 4. Oversee facility, plant and equipment maintenance to minimize downtime 5. Lead the operation of a safe and environmentally compliant facility. Oversee the Safety Programs and Safety Committees. Execute the companys EH&S policies, procedures, training, and practices. Establish routine practices to assure compliance with OSHA/MoE/MoL standards (US/CA) 6. Work closely with centralized purchasing and logistics to ensure plant SIOP plan is executed to meet on time KPI metric 7. Oversee various engineering functions to include Estimating/Design/Process Engineering 8. Develop Capital and Equipment budgets that are in line with the vision and strategy of the company. Prepare, submit, and manage Capital Expenditure Projects (CERs) to provide measurable return 9. Develop cost savings programs and monitor labor and material costs 10. Drive Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) and Base Cost Productivity (BCP) projects including defining and monitoring project goals and objectives through to completion 11. Partner with shared services leaders (i.e., Quality, EH&S, Planning/Scheduling, Warranty, Customer Service & Design) in the tactical and strategic execution of plant performance 12. Partner with Human Resources to communicate and uphold company policies, procedures, and laws 13. Participate in Project Management (PMO) activities 14. Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: Bachelors degree is required in Engineering or Business related field (an Associate degree may be considered with commensurate experience.) A minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing/engineering related field to include: 5 + years of experience in capital expenditure management 5 + years of experience with Lean Manufacturing experience, Six Sigma tools and methods 3 + years of experience in a manufacturing plant Six Sigma Green / Black belt designation preferred Ability to thrive in a fast paced and very demanding business that focuses on custom product shipments in 72 hours or less Must be resourceful and independent in order to adjust to the ever-changing demands within the business Ability to develop and implement processes that drive continuous improvement Demonstrated understanding of safety, quality, productivity, inventory, employee relations Proficiency in reading and interpreting business reports, metrics and KPIs Knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles/budgeting Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively represent the company with employees, vendors, and customers Familiarity with industry standard equipment and processes with technical ability Highly skilled in MS Office and ERP Systems. NetSuite a plus but not required Strong supervisory, teambuilding, decision-making and people management skills Ability to work well independently and as part of cross-functional teams Project management experience preferred Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred Essential Job Functions: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Travel requirements: generally less than 10% with occasional overnights
